Year of the Dragon: Lunar New Year 2024

Welcome to Alfred University's Lunar New Year, Year of the Dragon Celebration!

The Dragon in Chinese culture is a mythical, auspicious, and supreme being/creature. In Chinese mythology, Dragons have great power to control wind and rain, and bringing prosperity to the world. AU students of the Chinese language classes will play the Dragon Dance to start the celebration. All are welcome to join. The event includes traditional festival food and snacks tasting, craft making, performances of local children, singing Chinese songs with the Chinese language & music class students, and try to play the dragon dance. The celebration is sponsored by the CLAS Dean’s Office, the Institute for Cultural Unity and Division of Modern Languages.
